I am a Chartered Architect with more than ten years experience in the industry. As well as refurbishing my own properties, I have spent many hours working closely with people to enhance and improve their homes and workplaces so understand the, sometimes precarious, path to achieving a beautiful, practical and inspiring end product.
In 2013, I established Studio Pike Ltd. and am involved in a wide variety of projects from the refurbishment of an orthodontic practice to a new Gentlemens' motorcycle club in Shoreditch, upgrade works to a school in Walthamstow, bespoke joinery for the home of a Professor of Architecture and a variety of interesting house extension projects in Southsea, Chichester and London.
I trained at the Welsh School of Architecture at Cardiff University and in 2003, following graduation, spent one year working as a teaching and research assistant alongside Professor Richard Weston. My work with Richard continues today, developing a speculative design for a new-build house in South Wales and subsequently the refurbishment of his current home.
I have worked in architectural practice in the UK and Ghana, at Porphyrios Associates, Lipton Plant Architects and Orms Designers + Architects. In addition to the private residential sector, I have worked on commercial, education and large-scale multiple residential projects including the restoration of a grade I listed crescent in Bath.
Alongside design commissions, I maintain links with the Welsh School of Architecture as a tutor on the part III (Professional Studies) course and as a visiting critic and year tutor on the part II (Diploma in Architecture) course. In addition, I have contributed to a number of books published by Laurence King and RIBA Publishing including Professor Sarah Lupton's four explanatory guides to the Joint Contracts Tribunal (JCT) 2011 suite of contracts.
